As a small independent publisher we have limited budgets and tend to work with interns on the following basis, although are open to exploring each candidate’s individual situation to ensure that no one is unable to undertake a placement because of financial or logistical constraints:
Week-long remote/virtual internships (voluntary)
We welcome candidates looking to join us for a week from their own homes, and offer these placements regularly. During this week, you will learn about Lantana and our books via virtual meetings, have the chance to ask our team any questions you may have about publishing and careers, all while helping us with the various projects we’re working on at the time.
Week-long internships at our Oxford office (local travel and lunch expenses)
We love welcoming candidates to our shared office space at the Oxford Foundry, giving you a chance to feel part of the team and get to know our books in their beautiful printed form. As above, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, shadow and learn how we work as a company, while helping us with our day-to-day activities. We offer these placements a few times a year.
Two weeks or longer remote or office-based work experience placements (paid)
We can offer these placements only infrequently and tend to bring candidates on to lead on specific projects for us. Interest, experience or proven skills in the following areas make candidates particularly appropriate for these placements:
Employment
Since we are a small team, it is not often that positions open up at Lantana. However, we welcome speculative applications, and tend to gravitate towards candidates whose skillsets or experience vary from our own (do take a look at our current team here so you can pitch yourself as our missing link!). Please send a cover letter and CV to info@lantanapublishing.com
Consulting
As a small company with limited time and means, we would love to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer their time, expertise or insight to help us navigate our growth as an early stage business.
Perhaps you are recently retired, on maternity leave or transitioning to a new career. Perhaps you feel it’s time to hone in on something you care about, keep your hand in while retaining maximum flexibility, or bring transferable skills to a new sector. Perhaps you have a few hours to spare each month or several hours to give per week. If you are passionate about the values we uphold and feel that you can bring new insights to our work, please get in touch with our CEO at alice@lantanapublishing.com to see how we might help each other.
