Nadine Kaadan is interviewed about her picture books Tomorrow and The Jasmine’s Sneeze, published by Lantana. Nadine describes the extreme shock she felt following the outbreak of war in Syria, and how this is reflected in the illustrations for Tomorrow. She also speaks about the ways the book has helped Syrian children express their own experience of the conflict. “When I read the story, many kids want to tell me their own story–or to draw their own story.”

When writing The Jasmine Sneeze, Nadine explains that she was keen to create a fun book that depicts the beauty of Syria. “I found it really beautiful that a story can remind kids not to let conflict colour who you are. And don’t let a conflict colour an entire culture and population.”
